A one day moratoriam on complaining..

Filed under: Uncategorized — pharmacychick at 8:49 pm on Monday, June 23, 2008

I was reading some of my old posts and I thought to myself: PC, you complain a lot. Well, yes I do, because there isn’t much of this job that is fun and uplifting to write about anymore. I actually used to like my job and used to look forward to going to work. I also used to do about 500 less rx’s per week and was allocated the same labor hours that I work with now. That means that I do almost twice the work with the same labor. No wonder I am stressed and grouchy about my job. There must be a direct correlation, ya think?

So, to reverse that trend I decided to share with you some of my favorite things today. Note, none of them will have anything to do with the pharmacy! I may go back to my bitch-fest tomorrow but for today, its happy-post day.

My favorite food: Pizza, especially pepperoni and sausage. Barbecued Ribs! Lay it on thick with some spicy sauce and I’m in heaven. I am not a sissy salad chick. Pharmacy Chick is a carnivore. I also love my mothers fried chicken. I can’t make it exactly like her, but Mr Chick says its a close second.

My favorite sound: The sound of the wind thru a stand of ponderosa pine. Nothing says ‘peace’ more than that. Its compeletely unique and different and any other wind thru trees. I hope you all can hear it someday.

My favorite smell: chocolate chip cookies cooking, bacon, and new-car-smell. I get the cookies and bacon enough but not the new-car smell….

My favorite TV: Watching baseball, Red Sox, thanks, on my HiDef Plasma TV, and anything on HGTV

My favorite person: Jesus Christ, even though I fall pretty short, he’s always there to pick me up, dust me off and send me trundling on my way.

Favorite beverages: Coke (original), Red Gatorade, Chocolate milk, Egg Nog and Grapefruit juice. Just not at the same time.

Favorite Holiday: none–I declare my own. Sometimes I will declare a day “Vacation day” and spend the day doing whatever I want, regardless of the dishes/laundry/chores whatever. Its very theraputic, try it sometimes.

Favorite Movie: White Christmas. The Chick family doesn’t do movies or network TV unless its sports.

Favorite outfit: Jeans, a cotton turtleneck and a sweatshirt for winter and just about anything for hot weather!

Favorite season: Summer–hands down. I hate the cold.

Favorite book: Harry Potter, was a late bloomer, read all 7 in succession.

Favorite snack: Potato chips and onion dip, Freshly made spicy Guacamole.

Favorite Team: Red Sox, even when they stunk.

Favorite place: I love the mountains, except the mosquitoes tho, REALLY dislike the mosquitoes. They however seem to like me. If I could live in the mountains I would, but my home ended up in the city. I also like any place where my dog can sleep with her head on my lap.

Favorite car: Lexus SC 430 Sport Coupe, my never-gonna-own dream car.

Favorite colors: Bright Red and Dusty Blue.

Favorite thing about work: Locking the doors and going home! heh heh…

All in Fun,

Pharmacy Chick

Ps, Does anybody miss Pharmacy God posting like I do?

Yes, I really miss PG…. wish he’d get back at the blogging thing. You, however, really pick up the slack for him. You’re a great writer and you make me laugh! We all need more laughs in pharm-land, keep it up.

PC, just got back from Boston (my birthplace and place where I grew up), and I now sport a “RED SOX NATION” sticker on my bumper. I still do not believe that I lived long enough to see them win, not just one, but TWO, World Series. I’m still dreaming.

I followed the Red Sox when Gary Geiger shared the field with Carl Yastrzemski. Did you giggle when you first heard of a BCP called “Yaz?”

Also, I was listening when:

-Billy Rohr nearly pitched a no-hitter in his very first game in the majors (1967)

-Yaz won the Triple Crown (1967)

-Fisk hit that glorious home run (1975)

-Buckner made us all very ill for the rest of our lives (1986)

If you like White Christmas, you should watch Holiday Inn - it’s even better (it was the first movie Bing sang White Christmas in)

It’s a nice change of pace to remind ourselves ofthe things we love when work gets ugly - I try o do it, but somedays…. Well, you know…

Pharmacy Chick,

I have to agree with you on some of your faves, but there is one that I take a HUGE exception to.

First of all, I agree totally with the original Coke and pepperoni and sausage pizza. Chocolate milk too. And even though I’ve never mentioned it in my blog, I am also a Christian who committed my life to Christ a little over 10 years ago. My blog persona is just that, a persona. I am looking for the dream job that pays me a boatload of money and allows me to attend and serve at my church on a more consistant basis.

That being said, I am totally a late-fall/winter person. Nothing better than stepping outside with the snow falling.

But seriously….Red Sox??? Let me say that again…Red Sox? You must convert to the Tribe (especially since Coco and Manny are former Indians).

As for my own blog, I’ll probably get back at it. Between burning myself out and my home computer just about dying (a new computer is being shipped to me now) it made it difficult to write. Maybe I’ll start up again in August or so. And I’ll probably open up my topics so I can share my thoughts on things like, say, sports, world affairs, and the 2008 Presidential election. After all, the blog is Thoughts from the Pharmacy God/, not Pharmacy Thoughts from the Pharmacy God/.

Come back, Pharmacy God! We need you! I, for one, delighted in your posts, and feel sad when I see your link on my blogroll. I refuse to remove that link, BTW.

But, please understand that we Red Sox fans have earned our place. We kept the faith through some of the worst losses in sports history. The pre-2004 Red Sox didn’t get beaten; they LOST! They threw games AWAY! In 1986, they actually threw a World Series away. Then, they stopped doing that, and won. We were loyal to them in sickness and in health. But, they also had some hard luck: injuries that really did seem to be part of a curse to deliberately hamstring their campaigns. We fans persevered, and the team came through at last.

Ole Apothecary,

Even though the Red Sox may have let you down, at least the Patriots and Celtics have been there to give the Bostoners several winning seasons.

Those of us who are Cleveland fans have had three, only three chances at a championship in my lifetime. Two World Series attempts in 95 and 97, and the Cavaliers last season.

Over the years, Cleveland fans have suffered thru some abysmal decades without even a glimmer of hope for our teams.

It’s one thing to have the opportunity to win and choke when the pressure is on (I remember Bill Buckner). It’s a whole ‘nother ballgame when your team just downright sucks.

At least you and Pharmacy Chick aren’t Yankees fans.

Pharmacy Chick would never be a Yankee fan.
